Haldwani
Gateway to Kumaon
Haldwani is the commercial hub of Uttarakhand located in the Kumaon region at the Himalayan foothills. Haldwani (alongwith Kathgodam) is the second most populous city in Uttarakhand and the largest city in the Kumaon region. Kathgodam is the last railway link connecting the kumaon region with the rest of India. Haldwani is very well connected with the rest of the country via rail, bus and air links. The nearest airport is Pantnagar about 30 Kms from Haldwani. Plenty of buses connecting Haldwani to Delhi, Dehradun and many other cities. The nearby tourist attractions include likes of Corbett Nationnal Park, Nainital, Mukteshwar and etc.
It's also a migrating destination for the people of Kumaon region mainly for education and better connectivity. Just like everyone, my dad also built a house in Haldwani post retirement. Due to COVID-19 work from home and Uma's marriage we decided to spend some time here and thats why this photo collection is shaping up. Will be posting about the places we visit, local cultural, activities engaging kids and some of the special family moments.
As of 26th May, 2021 we have postponed the marriage which will be scheduled for winter. And, we are planning to host it at our village and its going to be a traditional kumanoni wedding. And I guess, we will get some good time to visit nearby places provided COVID situation improves. I have already visited quite a few places like Ranikhet, Bhikyasen, Manila and Kunja Village (my native place where I was raised as a kid).
